Days 4, 5, 6-Less IS More Challenge-Declutter

declutter

Decluttering takes time.  Takes more time than I really have right now.  However, I feel that if I declutter each space in my home, then in the long run I will have less stress and more time.

I spent this weekend decluttering my master closet, Madelynn’s closet, and Bailey’s bathroom.  Talk about a lot to do!

In my closet I got rid of items that I don’t wear, haven’t worn in a very long time, and organized my clothes.  I bought 8 totes for the things I fold and place on shelves.  I already placed swimsuits, pjs, work out clothes, and Paul’s hats in canvas totes when we moved in.  I still needed to figure out how to organize our shorts, sweaters, Paul’s pjs, his under shirts, his work out clothes, and my sweatshirts.

In these new totes I separated each of these articles of clothing and placed them in the totes.  I folded each of my sweaters and placed them on a shelf instead of hanging them up which gave me extra hanging space.  I also removed my scrubs from a shelf and placed them in a tote and placed my shorts in this area instead.

I bought a new bracelet holder (looks like from a boutique) which I am waiting from Amazon to come in the mail as well as some hat holders for my hats.  I rearranged how I hung my clothes.  I probably could get rid of more clothes and would still be fine.

Next, onto Madelynn’s closet.  I removed any clothes that do not fit or that is no longer going to be in season and boxed them up to sell.  I also did the same for her shoes, stuffed animals, and toys she does not use.  I had be hoarding onto her baby items, books, pics, etc in a drawer in her dresser.  I removed those and moved them to my craft closet, for another declutter session.  This freed up space in her dresser so I would not have to hang up pjs, swimsuits, and other things that take up time and space.  We will be moving her to a toddler bed and selling her changing table since she is being potty trained.

Lastly, this weekend was decluttering Bailey’s bathroom.  I trashed items that were close to being empty (lotions, hand sanitizers, lip gloss).  I also trashed items that she did not use any more.  I organized her cabinets and wiped them down.  Teen bathrooms are MESSY!
